A Time To Die
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Hence forth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge shall
give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all who have loved His appearing ( 2nd
Timothy 4:7-8). On Wednesday afternoon, August 22, 2018 in Miami, Florida, the Angel of
Mercy ushered Shirlee to her eternal home with Jesus.
A Time To Be Born
Shirlee Anita, a twin to Sharett Anthony, was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 10, 1951.
She was the fourth of seven siblings born to the late John W. Wright, Sr. and Charlotte E.
A Time To Live
She was educated in Miami-Dade County Public Schools; graduating from Miami
Northwestern Senior High in 1969. She received her bachelor’s degree from Savannah
State. She pledged AKA and was a faithful member until her death. Shirlee started her work
career at Sunland Training Center where she cared for and was very dedicated to the clients.
After leaving Sunland, Shirlee started her lifelong career with the Miami-Dade County
Public School System where she worked for thirty-three years. She was a loving, caring
and enthusiastic champion for the education of her students. At the schools where she
taught, she took an active leadership role in school activities and the lives of the students to
ensure that the students enjoyed school and were well educated.

Shirlee accepted Christ as her Savior early in life and was affiliated with several churches.

She really loved the Lord and at the time of her passing was a member of 93rd Street
Community Baptist Church. She was a faithful and willing worker who diligently and
conscientiously served as a member of the Deaconess Ministry, the Mission Ministry, the
Mothers’ Ministry and the Princess Ministry. God blessed her with a servant’s heart. She
always had a radiant smile, 1loving words of encouragement, compassion for the
downtrodden and she gave assistance to anyone in need.
A Time To Love
In 2009 she met her soul mate, Vincent Walden. They were married on November 11, 2011.
Vince was a special gift from God to Shirlee and she loved him deeply. Shirlee had four
children -Phillip, Myeka, Alexandra and Alexandro. She loved them and was a devoted
mother who strived to prepare them for life.
A Time To Mourn
Besides her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy
Williams; grandfather, John King; brother-in-law Lucious Simon and her favorite uncle,
Paul King. What a beautiful and full life Shirlee led. She leaves to cherish her memory:
her loving husband Vincent; her children: Phillip Cunningham, Myeka Casseus, Alexandra
